George Schena founded Schena Roofing in 1969 with a vision to build both the best customer relationships and a company completely dedicated to service. His original philosophy has guided the company’s every action in the past 50 plus years, and his wisdom paid off in a big way. It turns out that if you always do the right thing for your customers and employees, your business will quickly grow.

Beginning in 2023, we officially launched our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), giving our employees the benefit of ownership and creating opportunity for their future.  Our commercial roofing company now has two locations in Michigan, serving northern Ohio and northern Indiana as well. We have built trust with every contract, earning us a reputation of the utmost experience, integrity, safety, and quality craftsmanship.

Over time, our reputation has earned us customers that trust us time and time again with repairs and installations including automotive companies, retail/office complexes, commercial, specialty residential, education and religious facilities.

The Schena legacy

When it came time to retire, George Schena passed the torch to his son, Anthony. Throughout his career in roofing, Anthony has brought a dedication to the business that makes his family proud. In December 2022, Anthony announced to his employees that he’d been diligently working over the past year to transition his ownership in the company to all the employees of Schena Roofing. Before making his decision, Anthony reflected on all his employees, the culture and relationships they’ve been building for 53 years and the core values of Faith, Community and Respect that drive their business. He couldn’t imagine watching all that get diluted into someone else’s agenda of micro managing and posting profits for the investors without regard to all of the people that helped make the company successful. He came to the undeniable conclusion that no one else was more suited or more prepared to take his company into the future except all the employees.

Our incredibly experienced people are the unstoppable force that makes Schena Roofing what it is. The commercial roofing industry is a hard business, but our team rises to the challenge every day. No one is better suited to troubleshoot unique situations, provide custom solutions, and take the burden from you to solve roofing challenges. And because we’re employee owned, we’re invested in seeing each and every project is executed with precision and care, because we’re here for the long haul.

Our project supervisors each have 10 to 25 years of experience on the job. They oversee crews who have 15 years on average in commercial roofing. And we contract independent safety inspectors to ensure quality work is performed accurately and safely.
